DIGITAL PEEPBOX

- bring paintings and photographs to life

The Digital PeepBox is an audiovisual exhibit that brings paintings or photographs to life in a playful and direct way. Inspired by traditional peep boxes, which mostly used still pictures or objects illuminated by sun- or candle light, the Digital PeepBox is triggered through sensor input and is based on layers of video, animation and sound.

One side of the box displays a replica of a painting and in the middle of it the user finds a small peephole. When looking through the hole, a digital replica of the painting is revealed and comes to life through a short film sequence that is played out. If the visitor looks away, the sound and the illuminated image switch off. If one looks again, a new scene is played out.
